BookTok is a sub-community on TikTok where users post under the hashtag #booktok, sharing book reviews, must-read recommendations, memes, and a variety of literary content. It has played a crucial role in bringing attention to new authors and helping them become bestsellers. But which books are the most popular?
The team at JPC has analyzed Google search volumes of the most popular books from #BookTok to determine the most popular titles. The study also analyzed a range of metrics such as the number of independent bookshops, the number of public libraries and the number of cafés to declare the best cities for bookworms.

- “Fourth Wing” by Rebecca Yarros is the most popular #BookTok book, attracting 368,000 monthly Google searches. It’s followed by “Daisy Jones and the Six” by Taylor Jenkins-Reid, “It Ends With Us” by Colleen Hoover, and “Where the Crawdads Sing” by Delia Owens.
- New York and Massachusetts are the most book-obsessed states with 77,690 and 25,960 Google searches for book-related terms respectively.
- New York is crowned the best city in the US for book lovers, boasting 131 libraries, 30 independent bookstores, and 2,879 cafés followed by Los Angeles and Chicago.
